Synopsis

In July, 2014, the Resort Municipality of Whistler embarked upon the Whistler Cultural Connector project. The goal of the project was as follows: “to celebrate Whistler’s emergence as a vibrant cultural destination and improve the physical, visual, experiential and branded connectivity between six significant cultural institutions.” These include the Whistler Museum and Archives, Whistler Public Library, Millennium Place, the Audain Art Museum, the Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre, and Passiv Haus at the trail head to Lost Lake.

Dennis Boyle worked closely with landscape architect, Hapa Collaborative, and explored trail alignment, wayfinding, art and culture to arrive at its solution. The Master Plan features trail standards, improvements to legibility, wayfinding signage system and rationale, and a conceptual framework for site art.
